Another year. Another price rise.
Royal Mail will increase its prices on 31 March. In its letter to commercial partners Royal Mail says that it has 'where possible' limited price rises to 'around' the current rate of inflation. Indeed, for two services – Special Delivery Guaranteed and Advertising Mail – the rises are below the rate of inflation.
For other services, the position looks less attractive. Business Mail and Business Mail First Class will rise by up to 5%; International Standard on Account by up to 9.9%; and Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail 48 by an average 4.3%. For companies spending thousands of pounds a year, these will make a significant difference and are leading to some deep thinking about the use of 'snail mail'.
