Coronavirus (C-word) statement

We trust that you are all remaining well; what a strange time we are in!

Now that we have implemented the rigorous policies of handwashing, physical distancing whilst socially connecting, working remotely, and working in the workplace with the few that have to, we are apart yet discovering that relationships have become closer.

I don't know about you, but it seems that we are functioning each day in a daze of disbelief and bewilderment that this is actually happening, yet at the same time carrying out work duties and finding ourselves very busy.

The Ciconi team is amazing, all well and whilst things are taking a little longer, we are pulling together. Our external Customer Services teams are working from home but able to live link to the office so they are able to see in, and we are able to stay connected. We now have the sound of children interspersed with the sound of keyboards clicking away. It is very strange being on site as the machines are still making the sounds but the office is virtually deserted.

I am in communication with key suppliers on a daily basis to ensure that all services are fully operational and am happy to report that things are 'business as usual' with them. Royal Mail is committed to delivering mail, and for this we thank them, as some of our customers are getting important messages out to those for whom mail is the main medium of contact.

These times are extraordinary difficult and I would like to extend to everyone our full support; may we all come through this peculiar season in good health, stronger together and that we may be able to pick up the pieces and rearrange them into something better.

I would like to thank you all for the lovely comments that you send back, they are shared amongst the team and spur us on to keep on serving you, and serving you well.

Following Boris's announcement yesterday evening, we would like to confirm that we have stepped into a new phase where we have purely operational staff in the office with the rest of our office staff now working from home. We are still printing and mailing, with the support of our valued suppliers, and are committed to continuing to provide the same excellent level of service to all of our customers.

We are still having our daily update meetings as a company which continue to provide a welcome dose of laughter and encouragement, now via Zoom to ensure we incorporate our staff members who are working from home, and we are well positioned to serve all continuing requirements.

Many of you are recognising it is important to up communications in this changing time and we are committed to facilitating that in the very best way that we can.

From a risk assessment point of view, we can confirm the following:

  • All of our operational staff are respecting the boundaries of social distancing, including within the workplace. (We have however, renamed this 'physical distancing and social connecting', whilst keeping two metres away from each other!)
  • None of our team are using public transport.

As a result of the C-word pandemic, Ciconi has introduced various measures to reduce the risk to its employees and to ensure that we continue to provide the very best of service to our customers.

  • Instructions for correct handwashing in the workplace have been posted in relevant areas.
  • Delivery company staff delivering/collecting goods to and from Ciconi are being advised that they are to remain outside the building.
  • Ciconi staff receiving goods from delivery company staff wash their hands after bringing the delivery into the building.
  • Traditional handshaking has been discouraged.
  • VPN access for all office-based staff has been introduced and can be utilised should a team member need to self-isolate.
  • Core staff live within a 5-mile radius of Ciconi and would not be affected by any public transport service disruption.
  • The company will follow the latest government guidance on preventing the spread of infection in the workplace and the actions to take if an employee has had contact with a confirmed case.
  • Regular company meetings will be held and updates posted on the company intranet to ensure that all staff are aware of the latest developments and advice.
  • The risk of every member of staff 'self-isolating' at the same time has been assessed as low and therefore a core staff cover is expected at all times.
  • The level of job processes and procedures that are already in place allows for full operational tasks to be carried out by the team of casual workers that Ciconi already has on call, or by agency workers, if required.
